


Le Mistral is a wine and cocktail bar inspired by the flavors, ingredients, and spirit of Southern Europe. Rooted in tradition and guided by nature, we focus on wines and spirits that speak of a place — not to copy the original, but to recall a memory of it.
In a city full of hospitality and diversity, we share our version of it, shaped by where we come from and how we were taught to host.
Created by Jelena Prodan, beverage director and partner in the SMG Group (S.K.Y., Valhalla, Apolonia, and Haven), Le Mistral reflects her Southern European roots and travels across the Balkan, Italian, and Iberian Peninsulas. Born in Belgrade and “raised by travel,” her experiences — from music to food and culture — shaped the vision she brings to the Chicago dining scene. She also designed the space to feel like a cave-like hidden corner of an old town: a place to explore, taste, and linger.
Chef Stephen Gillanders, founder of the SMG Group and executive chef for its restaurants, supports Le Mistral’s beverage-first philosophy by reverse-pairing the cuisine to the drinks. The menu features craveable bites designed to complement the glass — and keep you at the table a little longer.
